President Biden didn't walk into Mack Southside Fire Station in Allentown empty-handed Friday afternoon.
He brought firefighters coffee and pastries from a local shop.
Allentown Chief Efrain Agosto and Assistant Chief John Christopher welcomed him as other firefighters stood nearby.
Biden shook hands and spoke briefly with each firefighter. He told the EMS officer that his life was saved not once but twice by his local crew.
During brief remarks, he touted the federal investments that helped build the Allentown Fire Academy and Emergency Operations Center, The Morning Call reported.
The new fire academy which opened in August became a reality thanks to $2.3 million in American Rescue Plan funding.
Allentown was able to hire a dozen firefighters thanks to the SAFER grant.
